Chemical Safety Report (CSR) for KKDIK

A Chemical Safety Report (CSR) is required for substances registered at 10 tonnes per year or more under KKDIK (Turkey REACH). It documents hazard assessment, PBT/vPvB assessment, exposure assessment and risk characterisation, and for hazardous substances includes exposure scenarios that are reflected in the extended Safety Data Sheet (eSDS). A well-prepared CSR is critical for the acceptance and inspection resilience of the registration. ONAY Mühendislik prepares CSRs and aligns them with the SDS and IUCLID dossier.

When a CSR is required

The chemical safety report becomes mandatory once the registered volume passes the defined tonnage threshold. Below that level a technical dossier is sufficient. Where the substance is classified as hazardous, exposure scenarios must accompany the report for every identified use.

How it is built

  • Hazard assessment for human health and the environment
  • Derivation of DNEL and PNEC values
  • Exposure assessment for each identified use
  • Risk characterisation comparing exposure with safe levels
  • Documentation of the control measures that keep the ratio below one

Joint registration and the CSR

In a joint submission the lead registrant normally prepares the report. Members rely on it, but a member with a distinctive use must add that use to keep the registration aligned with reality. Ignoring this leaves a gap that surfaces during inspection.

Timeline and cost drivers

With a complete data set the report can be written in weeks. Missing endpoints tie the schedule to laboratory lead times and extend it by months. Cost depends on the number of substances, the variety of uses and how much modelling is required.

Downstream user checks

A downstream user must confirm that its own conditions fall inside the exposure scenarios received with the safety data sheet. Where they do not, the supplier is asked to extend the scenario or the company prepares its own assessment. This check is written down and dated, because inspectors ask for it.
