How long does KKDIK registration take?
The KKDIK (Turkey REACH) registration timeline depends on the substance’s tonnage band, hazard profile and existing data. A simple intermediate may take a few weeks, whereas a high-tonnage hazardous substance requiring a full test package, MBDF processes and an IUCLID dossier can take several months. The process generally involves pre-MBDF enquiry, sameness checking, data gap analysis, completion of required tests or literature, IUCLID dossier creation and submission via KKS. Preliminary registration is much faster than full registration. As registrations must be completed by 30 September 2026 and data generation can be lengthy, early engagement is strongly recommended.

What drives the timeline
There is no fixed duration. If the substance is already registered and the forum is functioning, a few months are enough: negotiate the letter of access, adapt the dossier and submit. If studies are missing, the schedule follows laboratory lead times and can exceed a year.
Indicative phases
- Inventory and role analysis: a few weeks
- Enquiry and joining the forum: one to three months
- Letter of access negotiation: usually the longest phase
- IUCLID dossier preparation: weeks with complete data
- Submission and fee payment: a few days
What slows it down
An incomplete substance identity blocks the sameness decision. Price negotiations over data can run for months. Close to a deadline, forums become congested and every response takes longer than it would a year earlier.
How to shorten it
Prepare analytical data in advance, fix the tonnage band precisely and enter the forum early. Avoid buying a data package above your band: it costs more without adding anything to the dossier.

A realistic example
For a substance already registered with an active forum, an importer handling twenty tonnes a year usually completes the route in three to four months. For a substance never registered, with studies to commission, the same route easily passes twelve months. The difference is data availability, not paperwork.
