Why does the label start with classification?
Each element on the label derives from the hazard classification of the product. If the classification is wrong, the pictogram, the warning word, and the H expressions will also be wrong. That's why we always start the work with a reclassification of the formulation. We then generate the label elements and the safety data sheet from the same data.
What should be included on the label
- Trade name of the product and names of ingredients contributing to the hazard
- Hazard pictograms and signal word (Danger / Caution)
- Hazard (H) and precautionary (P) statements
- Supplier's name, address and telephone number
- Nominal quantity and UFI code where necessary
- Tactile warning and childproof cover if required
Obligations on the packaging side
The packaging must be resistant to its contents and must not leak. For certain hazard classes, a lid that makes it difficult for children to open is mandatory. Additionally, tactile stimulation is required for the visually impaired. Packaging design that gives the impression of a food product is prohibited; This rule is strictly regulated, especially for consumer products.
When is the UFI code mandatory on the label?
When a poison control center is notified for harmful mixtures, the UFI code generated is printed on the label. The code exactly matches the formulation in the notification with the product in the package. If the formulation changes, a new notification and, in most cases, a new UFI is required. The most common label errors in inspection
The missing H and P expressions come first. Secondly, the old label continues to be printed even though the classification of the mixture has changed.
